Sarikamis

Sarikamis is in the Kars Province of Eastern Turkey. Its mellow slopes are covered in evenly spaced yellow pines making it the best tree skiing/riding destination in turkey. Its continental climate creates amazing cold, dry powder.

Sarikamis Is much less trafficked than other resorts of its development level, mostly due to the localities lack of a large airport. The best plan is to fly to Erzurum (palandoken) rent a car and drive directly to Sarikamis, a 2 hour drive, before returning and finishing your holiday at Palandoken mountain.

Vertical drop: 480 m (1,575ft)

Terrain: Sarikamis is not the steepest or largest mountain in turkey, but all of it is high speed accessed and its terrain boasts open trees with amazing snow. Most of its groomed pistes are Beginner or intermediate (Green, blue, and red). Considering the low cost for a lift ticket (~$9) and accommodation, the lack of crowds, and the quality of the snow/tree skiing it is definitely the best value of any ski area in Turkey. There is always untracked snow and there are also several natural gullies on the mountain that are incredible for snowboarders.

*Off-piste terrain and weather can quickly become extreme(ski patrol does not mitigate risks or guarantee rescue when leaving the ski area, proceed with caution).
